Check the MasterCool Display
Confirm the ice maker icon is active on the touch display. Certain modes — Sabbath, Holiday, or a prior manual off — deactivate the ice maker automatically. Re-enable it and wait 24 hours before assuming a fault.
Replace the Water Filter
Miele monitors water flow rate and will inhibit the ice maker if inlet pressure is too low. A clogged filter is often the cause. Start here before calling a technician.
Clear the Ice Bin
If cubes have fused into a solid block and lifted the feeler arm, the ice maker reads the bin as full. Discard the clumped ice — the arm drops and the cycle resumes.

Miele's MasterCool built-in refrigerators are sophisticated German machines. The ice maker isn't just mechanical — it depends on multiple sensors and electronic boards working in concert.
The most common failure is the water inlet valve, mounted behind the rear panel or in the kickplate. In Orange's hard water, the valve membrane or solenoid coil wears out — water either stops entirely or drips slowly, creating an ice plug in the fill tube.

Why Your Miele Ice Maker Isn't Working — 4 Causes

1. Water Inlet Valve (~40%)
The solenoid coil burns out or the valve membrane scales up with mineral deposits. No water reaches the mold. Requires removing the kickplate or rear panel to access and replace the valve with an OEM Miele unit.
2. Ice Maker Module Failure (~30%)
The internal heater that releases cubes from the mold fails, or the drive gears strip. The entire ice maker head assembly is replaced as an OEM unit — more reliable than sourcing individual internals.
3. Control Board or Sensor (~15%)
The control board stops sending power to the ice maker, or the freezer temperature sensor reads incorrectly — the ice maker won't cycle until the sensor reports cold enough. We diagnose before ordering any board.
4. Frozen Fill Tube (~15%)
