On labor and parts
Parts in the van. Came, fixed, done.
Remember: clearing a code doesn't fix the fridge. If the code returns — a part needs to be replaced.
This is not a breakdown. It means the fridge lost power at some point. Check food temperatures. To clear: press any button on the panel. If the fridge doesn't cool properly after that — the issue is with the compressor or start relay, not the code itself.
The air damper isn't opening properly. The freezer may feel normal, but the fridge compartment will be too warm. Requires damper or control board replacement. Labor + part: $180. Note: Whirlpool's Adaptive Defrost tries to compensate for early defrost issues, so this code sometimes appears only after days of gradual warming.
E1 (fridge compartment sensor) or E2 (freezer sensor). The thermistor has failed. The fridge will over-freeze food or run too warm. Inexpensive part, solved in 30 minutes. Labor + sensor: $80 + part.
Usually a reminder to replace the EveryDrop water filter (press and hold the Filter button for 3 seconds to reset). If ice isn't being made after a filter change — the fill tube may be frozen or the inlet valve needs replacement.
The average tech eyeballs it → wrong diagnosis → orders the wrong part → comes back → you pay twice. Our analyzer shows the exact cause in 5 minutes: pressure, temperature, current draw. One part, one visit — no guessing.
