Samsung codes are not always a final diagnosis, but they are a good shortcut. 22E points us toward airflow, 5E toward defrost, and 39E toward the ice maker.
If you do not see your code here, call with the code and model number. We can usually tell you what the code family means before the visit.
Codes are grouped by symptom. Repair amounts include the usual labor-and-part range where the site has a localized variable.
| Code | What is happening | DIY? | Repair |
|---|---|---|---|
| 22E / 22C | Fresh-food fan is not moving air into the compartment | No | $150–$280 |
| 21E / 21C | Freezer fan stopped; both sections may warm up | No | $150–$280 |
| 5E / SE | Defrost fault; ice builds up and airflow fades | You can thaw it for 24 hours, but the fault may return | $160–$220 |
| 24E / 25E | Defrost cycle fault; cooling gets weaker over time | No | $160–$220 |
On French Door models, 22E is one of the most common airflow-related codes.
| Code | What is happening | DIY? | Repair |

| 4E / 4C | Defrost sensor issue | No | $140–$220 |
| 6E / 6C | Ambient temperature sensor issue | Check that the fridge is not in direct sun or next to a heat source | $140–$220 |

Samsung door ice makers can show sensor, fan, or harvest errors even when the bucket only looks frozen.

Tip: before calling, unplug the fridge for 5 minutes. If the code returns, take a photo and call us.
Unplug the fridge for 5 minutes, then plug it back in. Some communication codes clear this way.
Codes can flash and disappear. A photo helps us bring the right part or tool.
If the fridge is still cold, avoid extra door openings while you wait.
Tell us the code and model number. We can usually explain the likely repair path by phone.
We quote before repair. These are the usual code families and budget ranges.

If it does not return within 24 hours, it may have been a communication glitch. If the same code returns, treat it as a real fault and schedule service.
Samsung uses different code sets by model. Call with the code and model number from the inside wall label, and we can usually identify the code family.
Multiple codes often come from one root cause. For example, a defrost problem can create ice buildup and then fan codes. We diagnose the cause, not just the display.
On some models, button combinations can clear the display, but they do not repair the failed part. Start with a 5-minute power reset; if the code returns, call for diagnosis.
$89. It is credited toward the repair when you approve the work. If we don't fix it, you don't pay.

When repair makes more sense than buying a new fridge
The average tech eyeballs it → wrong diagnosis → orders the wrong part → comes back → you pay twice. Our analyzer shows the exact cause in 5 minutes: pressure, temperature, current draw. One part, one visit — no guessing.
