Hundreds of Samsung dryers repaired. I know every error code — what triggers it, whether you can clear it yourself, and exactly what the fix costs.
Most Samsung dryer errors are heat-related (HE/tE) or caused by a blocked exhaust duct. Call me, describe the code — I'll tell you the repair cost over the phone before I even come out.
Codes are grouped by system. Find your issue. Prices include labor and part.
| Code | What it means | Can I fix it myself? | Repair cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| HE / HC | Heating Error. Dryer can't reach temperature or is overheating. Usually a burned-out heating element. | No — requires disassembly and a multimeter | {{dryer_fix_no_heat}} |
| tE / tE1 / tS / tO | Thermistor Error. Temperature sensor is open, shorted, or failed — dryer can't read internal temperature. | No — sensor needs replacing | $80 + part |
| CE / E2 | Cooling Error / Overheat. Dryer is running too hot — often a clogged exhaust duct. | Clean lint filter and wall duct first | $80 (if sensor failed) |
Most HE and CE codes are caused by a completely lint-clogged exhaust duct — not a failed part.
| Code | What it means | Can I fix it myself? | Repair cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| dE / dF / dC | Door Error / Door Check. Dryer thinks the door is open even when it's closed. Door switch or latch has failed. | Check for clothes caught in the door seal | $80 + part ($20–$40) |
| Code | What it means | Can I fix it myself? | Repair cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| bE / bE2 | Button Error. A button on the control panel is stuck — contact has been closed too long. | Try pressing each button firmly and releasing | $120–$180 (board repair) |
| 9E / 9C | Voltage supply problem. Dryer is receiving incorrect voltage. | Check the outlet (electric dryers need 240V — both breakers) | Free (electrician issue) |
Unplug the dryer completely. Samsung electronics sometimes glitch. A full reset can clear a false error code.
CE and HE errors are often caused by a completely blocked exhaust duct, not a broken part. Clean both before calling.
If the code comes back — tell us the code over the phone. We'll give you a repair estimate for free.
Unplugging the dryer for 5–10 minutes usually clears a stored code. But if the code returns after the next cycle, it's not a glitch — it's a real hardware failure (burned heating element, failed thermistor, etc.). Clearing the code doesn't fix the underlying problem.
Most likely yes. HE means Heating Error — the dryer tried to heat and failed. In Samsung dryers, the heating element coil burns out, particularly when the exhaust duct has been clogged. The exact cause is confirmed with a multimeter reading of the element's continuity.
The door switch has failed. The dryer won't start a cycle until it's 100% certain the door is closed. On Samsung, the door switch and latch are often a combined assembly — the plastic latch can still click while the electrical contacts inside have failed. Inexpensive fix, done in 15 minutes.
