A door that won't latch is annoying, but it's usually one of the cheapest fixes on a dryer.
The key thing: every dryer has a door switch that tells the board "door closed, safe to spin." If the switch or latch is broken, the dryer either won't start at all or stops mid-cycle — both the same root cause.
Worth knowing: some Samsung and LG dryers have a secondary door-latch sensor that can fail independently of the mechanical latch. I check both in one visit so you don't replace the latch only to find the sensor was the real problem.

The door is cracked — repair or replace the whole door?

Samsung / LG door latch — is it different from other brands?
Some Samsung and LG models add a secondary electronic door sensor on top of the mechanical latch. If the mechanical fix doesn't solve it, I check the sensor next — same visit, so you don't pay twice.

Dryers are the most repair-friendly appliance out there. Parts are simple and cheap: belt $20, rollers $40, element $80, thermal fuse $15. They last for years — no sensitive electronics dying after three.
Real example: A Whirlpool 22 years old — replaced rollers twice at $40 each. Still runs. A Samsung 5 years old — control board failed, $400 repair. The old one was more reliable.
