Samsung dryers have two door-related components that can fail independently: the mechanical latch (the plastic hook) and the electronic door switch assembly. Both must register "closed" before the dryer will start.
What the dC error actually means: the control board never received the "door closed" confirmation. That could be a broken latch not reaching the strike, a failed switch, or on some models a secondary magnetic sensor that's gone bad.

Samsung shows dC but the door looks closed — what's wrong?
The door looks closed but the electronic switch isn't getting the signal. On Samsung, the latch and switch are often one combined part — the plastic latch can still click while the internal switch contacts have failed. I check both the mechanical fit and the electrical continuity in one visit.
My Samsung stops mid-cycle for no reason — could it be the door?
