Whirlpool dryers are workhorses. In older models the drum rides on two rear rollers and front plastic glides; newer models use four rollers. Clothes coming out with dark marks — is that the drum?
Usually the front drum glides have worn through and the bare metal drum edge is rubbing the cabinet, or the rear felt seal is gone. Either way the drum surface is touching something it shouldn't. Don't keep running it — the marks get worse and the drum edge can score the cabinet.
Should I oil the Whirlpool drum rollers?
No — never use WD-40 or any oil on Whirlpool rollers. The bearings are sealed and self-lubricating; external lubricant attracts lint and causes the roller to seize within weeks. If they're noisy, they need replacement, not lubrication.
